The RichmondCard - making parking easier

A new prepaid card enabling motorists to save money on car parking comes into effect from 1 October 2009. Apply before 2 November and save £2.50.

The launch of the RichmondCard coincides with the introduction of CO² based  street parking charges.  The scheme qualifies drivers of low CO²-emitting vehicles for a substantial discount on the standard parking fee, and also eliminates the need to find change for parking meters. The scheme is open to visitors to the borough as well as residents. Motorists without a RichmondCard will pay parking at the highest band rate, unless they are registered with Pay By Phone.

The RichmondCard works in a similar way to the prepaid Oystercard. The card can be obtained by completing a registration form available from the Civic Centre and online at www.richmond.gov.uk/parking, giving your registration number and CO² emissions band. 

Cards can be topped up at any pay-and-display parking machine or sent to the council, who will will return it within 7 days. An online topping up service will be available by the end of the year. Until 2 November the £2.50 cost of the card will be waived.
